Register for a Stripe Account

Registering with Stripe

If you already have a Stripe Account this guide is not for you. Please head to guide Join Toucan Collect.

If you do not have a Stripe account but wish to use the Toucan Collect app, you will need to create an account with Stripe.

Before proceeding, please make sure you have authority to create a Stripe account on behalf of your organisation.

You will need to have your charities information to hand including things like Bank account information, Trustee name, addresses and DOB. Please make sure you have all of your charities information to hand before proceeding.

Stripe Signup

1. Enter www.stripe.com/gb into your browser

2. Click 'Sign in'

3. Click on 'Create New Account'

1. Enter in your information

Complete Stripe Account Information

1. Stripe will send a verification email to the address you registered with. Go to your inbox and click on the verification email. Once verified, you will be re-directed back to Stripe to continue signing up.

Business Type

1. Click on 'Add business information'

1. Select Nonprofit organisation as the business type

Business Details

1. Enter the charity's legal information

2. Enter charity registration number

3. Enter charity VAT number if applicable

4. Enter charities trading name

5. Enter charities business/trading address

6. Enter charities telephone number

7. Select your organisation type from the Industry dropdown

8. Enter your charities website URL

9. In the 'Product Description' box you will need to enter a summary of your charity e.g. Cancer charity raising funds for research

10. Press 'Continue'

Business Representative

This section must be filled out by someone with significant control and management of your organisation. If that's not you, make sure to ask the right person to continue.

1. Enter your legal first and last name

2. Enter your email address

3. Enter your job title

4. Enter your date of birth

5. Enter your home address

6. Enter your phone number

7. Leave 'I own 25% or more of the company unticked

8. Leave I am a member of the governing board of the company unticked

9. Press Continue

Business Owners

1. Press Continue with no business owners

Business Directors

1. Press Continue with no business directors

Business Executives

1. You should already see the name you entered in the business representative section

2. Please add up to 2 additional trustees information in the business executive section

3. Click 'Continue' once complete

Public Details

This next section relates to visible information that may appear in payment statements, invoices and receipts.

1. Statement Descriptor - this should be pre populated with your charities trading name

2. You have the option to shorten the descriptor if it is too long

3. Enter charities telephone number (toggle if you want this to appear or not)

4. Press 'Continue'

Add Your Bank

Add an account for payouts. Earnings that you receive will be sent to this account.

1. Select currency

2. Select country of bank account

3. Enter sort code

4. Enter account number

5. Select your pay out schedule from the dropdown

6. Press 'Continue'

Secure Your Account

Stripe requires two-step authentication in order to keep your account safe.

1. Set up your two-step authentication

   1. Use an authenticator app

   2. Add a security key

   3. Add a passkey

2. When you have chosen your method, press 'Continue'

Add Extras

Stripe will offer you to direct a fraction of your revenue from donations to 'Stripe Climate'.

1. Set your commitment, or scroll down and select 'No Thanks'

Review and Finish

1. Review your information to make sure its correct. When you're happy press 'Submit'.

Stripe Dashboard

Once you have submitted your application and its been approved by Stripe you will be directed to your Stripe Connect portal.

Now that your Stripe account please return to the Join Toucan Collect guide to sign up.
